CORE NETWORK ARCHITECTURE
- Global Crossing IP VPN service utilizes equipment and services from leading industry vendors such as Juniper, Cisco and Nortel Networks.
- MPLS traffic engineered backbone with full mesh redundancy for high performance and express transport of native IP traffic.
- ATM/FR, Private Line (PL) and NNI Interconnects enable utilization of GC FR/ATM and PL PoPs and extended reach NNIs. Global Crossing Metro, Ethernet and business-class DSL access services also available.
- IETF RFC 2547 Bis implementation enables MPLS-based VPNs
- IP Gateways with firewalls enable Remote VPN Access and Secured Internet Access (SIA). Two Remote VPN access options: Mobility and Site.
- Interconnection of Global Crossing IP VPN, FR/ATM and Private Line networks enables hybrid network configurations, supporting a graceful migration to MPLS-based IP VPNs.
CUSTOMER CONFIGURATION OPTIONS
- Flexible configurations - point-to-point with Layer-2, any-to-any connections with Layer-3, or a hybrid solution combining L2 and L3 through the same ports/loops.
- Each site may participate in multiple VPNs, and be connected to a virtually unlimited number of sites.
- Multiple label switch paths (LSPs) connect locations in a custom design you build and modify, so no ordering and no waiting is required.
- Three CoS levels- Premium, Enhanced, and Basic.
- Options available to work with IP Videoconferencing.

- Layer 2 Point-to-Point Virtual Private Lines; create your own configuration - supports any legacy protocol.
- Layer-2 transport for any Layer-3 protocols - convergence of applications.
- Layer 3 Any-to-Any Connectivity - one port per location; no PVCs to manage.
- Flexible configurations - hybrid combination L2 and L3 through same ports/loops.
ACCESS NODES AND CONNECTION OPTIONS
- Access available in Global Crossing locations worldwide:
- Direct leased line connection to provider edge router (PR), SDH/SONET, FR/ATM or NNI and Metro-Network PoPs where available. Global Crossing Ethernet and business-class DSL access also available.
- Direct leased line connection to PR, SDH/SONET, FR/ATM or NNI and Metro-Network PoPs where available.
- L3 routing protocol support for BGP, OSPF, RIP and static.
- Shared access (backhaul) for ATM/FR over the Global Crossing ATM network and through any NNI connections -- all Global Crossing PoPs and NNI PoPs are access points for our IP VPN service -- now in more than 300 cities, 50 countries and 400 Points-of-Presence (PoPs).
- Remote VPN Access options allow mobile users and remote sites to securely (IPSec) connect to your network over any access service from any ISP - from just about anywhere in the world.
