Global Crossing Plans Expansion of VoIP Outbound Service to Mexico

Making good on its commitment to expand the availability of its Carrier VoIP Services worldwide, Global Crossing plans this month to make Carrier VoIP Outbound service available to customers in Mexico, raising to 29 the total number of countries directly served by Global Crossing in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and North America.

Carrier VoIP Outbound Service is provided via Global Crossing's private IP backbone network. The network ensures that VoIP packets receive the highest priority, which means voice calls are delivered with minimal latency, packet loss and jitter - a level of quality not possible with voice services based on public Internet transport.

Global Crossing is a leader in fully interoperable, secure VoIP services for and supports several access methods to connect to its VoIP service portfolio. These include Global Crossing's IP VPN service, Global Crossing Dedicated Internet Access and standard public Internet access.

Global Crossing VoIP Local Service Reach Italy and additional U.S. Markets

Global Crossing has expanded the availability of its Carrier VoIP Services into Italy, and has deepened its reach within the United States.

Global Crossing can now secure and provision direct inward dial numbers in Milan and Rome, Italy, in addition to Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, France, Norway, UK and the U.S.

Global Crossing VoIP Local Service offers the ability to originate traffic on the public switched telephone network in different countries using geographic and non-geographic numbers. The traffic is then converted to VoIP on Global Crossing's private IP MPLS-based network and delivered to customers via an IP interconnection. This service eliminates traditional time division multiplexing, private line and foreign exchange service fees by providing a single IP connection alternative.

Within the United States, Global Crossing also has added 83 rate centers, within its existing 46 serving markets to deepen the footprint of VoIP Local Service.

Upgrade on AC-1 South and AC-2 Now Available!

We built it. We maintain it. And now we've upgraded it.

We have recently completed significant upgrades to the Atlantic Crossing (AC)-1 South and AC-2 submarine cable network.

The AC-1 and AC-2 submarine cable network spans more than 13,000 miles, connecting the United States to the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Germany. This network provides a self-healing ring that uses state-of-the-art Wavelength Division Multiplexing technology. Our transatlantic routes provide diversity to major cities and hubs between United States and Europe.  This allows Global Crossing customers to purchase multiple circuits between the same cities that are completely diverse from each other.

The Atlantic Crossing is a complete worldwide undersea cable network. Other undersea systems available from Global Crossing include the UK-Ireland across the Celtic Sea, the Mid-Atlantic Crossing (MAC) connecting AC-1 to St. Croix, and Florida, the South American Crossing (SAC) along both continental coasts, and the Pan American Crossing (PAC) connecting California, Mexico, and Panama.
