Global Crossing Enriches VoIP Local Service and Expands Availability in Asia, Europe and the U.S.
Global Crossing is broadening the scope and reach of its Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services by adding new features to its VoIP Local Service and by extending the service into Rome, Milan and Hong Kong. The company also is expanding the United States availability of VoIP Local Service to 83 additional communities.
VoIP Local Service has been extended to Hong Kong and Italy supporting the existing suite of VoIP Outbound and converged IP services is these two markets. VoIP Local service is also available in Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, UK and the United States. Global Crossing VoIP Local Service complements the company's VoIP Outbound services, which are available from 29 countries around the world, and provides the consistency multinational customers require from global services.
The first feature Global Crossing has added to its VoIP Local Service is an automated business-to-business Local Number Portability (LNP) interface. LNP lets telephone subscribers retain their phone numbers when they change local or wireless carriers, just as they do with long distance carriers. Global Crossing also has added Calling Name Delivery Service (CNAM), the ability to provide VoIP Local Service enterprise and carrier customers with calling party name, along with calling party number, on inbound calls. This is similar to caller ID in that the calling party's name is displayed along with the calling number.

Global Crossing Integrates Advanced Monitoring Tools into Standard IP VPN Offer
By integrating a suite of sophisticated tools into its standard IP VPN service, Global Crossing has removed the complexities of network monitoring to provide enterprise network managers with a comprehensive and meaningful view of network performance. Embedding these new performance management tools in Global Crossing's standard IP VPN offer provides enterprises with unique premises-to-premises performance guarantees for packet delivery and latency - capabilities not included in competitors' standard IP VPN services. Offering end-to-end SLAs for these metrics is an industry first and eclipses the functionality available from other service providers for a standard IP VPN offer.
Global Crossing's new standard IP VPN offer allows enterprises to monitor key performance metrics - in true real-time - literally one-second increments - across their networks via Global Crossing's uCommand portal. Monthly site-to-site performance reports by customer-defined Class of Service (CoS) are provided as assurance that Global Crossing stands behind, and is compliant with, its performance guarantees. In addition, the enhanced standard IP VPN service alerts users when key network performance thresholds are surpassed, providing an immediate proactive notification.
The integration of Network Integrity into Global Crossing's standard IP VPN Service also lets enterprises monitor specific applications with two premium performance management options: Applications Integrity lets network managers distinguish easily between network-based and application-specific issues, significantly reducing troubleshooting response time. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Integrity includes all elements of Applications Integrity and also provides per-call Mean Opinion Scores (MOS) to report on VoIP-call quality as it is perceived by the human ear.
