Impsat Acquisition Complements Global Crossing's IP Capabilities and Network Reach

It won't be long before carrier customers experience first-hand the advantages of Global Crossing's acquisition of Impsat. The complementary nature of our companies and their philosophies has been persistently apparent through a long-standing, highly productive relationship that makes this combination a natural next step for both companies.

Since 1990, Impsat has focused on providing high-quality, integrated telecommunications and IT solutions to large organizations and other service providers in Latin America. They are a leading provider of integrated private telecommunications, Internet, voice and information technology services to corporate and government clients.

Impsat also has been a regional carrier customer of ours since 2000 when our South American Crossing (SAC) system was officially launched. They are a part of our Global Partner Program and we share an IP VPN iMPLS™ interconnection, which gives Global Crossing customers IP VPN reach to the more than 40 cities connected to Impsat's IP network.

Clearly, Impsat's extensive Latin American network and managed IP capabilities will complement Global Crossing's demonstrated ability to deliver converged IP services on a global scale.

In addition to the 12 cities where Global Crossing already has facilities in Latin America and the Caribbean, Impsat's network presence significantly expands Global Crossing's footprint into seven countries -- Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Our local presence also will be extended through Impsat's 15 metropolitan area networks and data centers in some of the largest cities in Latin America, including Buenos Aires, Bogotá, Caracas, Quito, Santiago, Lima, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.

Impsat's data centers can deliver new services to you, including application hosting, storage area networks, disaster recovery, and managed Information Communications Technologies (ICT) services, which support the management of IP telephony, security, network, servers, database, and applications.

In addition to these capabilities, Impsat also provides Private IP, direct IP, international IP MPLS; VoIP and IP telephony services, and Security solutions. Impsat also has 10,000 kilometers of IP network and satellite access services that enable us to deliver our IP VPN services to your regional locations in more than 200 cities in Latin America.

Given the complementary nature of the two businesses, we're confident we can adhere to our integration timeframes and are anticipating a smooth transition with no impact to your current levels of service.

We also will continue to manage your account and deliver services to you in the same high-quality manner you're used to. In the coming days, your account manager will contact you to answer any questions you may have.
