uCommand™ Continues to Deliver Superior Customer Experience
Delivering a superior customer experience continues to be a primary focus for Global Crossing in 2007. And this drive to continuously improve how we serve you is the impetus behind some of the new capabilities of our market-leading uCommand Customer Web Portal.
Some of you already are familiar with the portal, but for those who aren't, customers use it to manage and monitor their Global Crossing services, as well as their own networks. uCommand lets them order, provision, troubleshoot, control and support their networks around-the-clock in a secure, customizable environment.
Clearly, you are seeking more from your network investment and from us, your service provider. You want a more user-friendly look and feel. You want real-time control with capabilities, such as direct access to maps of our global network. And you want access to product and services information.

Fibernet Acquisition Enriches Global Crossing Capabilities
Global Crossing's integration of Fibernet is well under way, making it possible for us to deliver to you the advantages of our now combined services and increased network coverage in the UK.
In the meantime, we're intent on continuing the level of customer support you're used to. To that end, we'll conduct a Carrier eXchange Club in London on June 26. It would be great to see you there! For more information on the event please contact your sales manager.
Global Crossing Carrier Ring portfolio has been enhanced and now comprises the London Carrier Ring (LCR), IP-LCR and the Frankfurt Carrier Ring (FCR).
The Global Crossing IP-LCR is an extension of the London Carrier Ring (LCR) and provides a high volume gateway between TDM (SS7) and IP (SIP) traffic. It allows new members with new VoIP services to exchange traffic with current TDM members, as well as allowing current members to convert their TDM traffic to VoIP.
The IP-LCR is best considered as a network with two "sides". On one side is the traditional SDH based LCR. On the other side is an Ethernet network. In between the two is the IP-LCR gateway, comprising Soft Switches, Media Gateways and Session Border Controllers. Access to the IP side is via dedicated Ethernet nodes. These are to be found in many of the same telehotels as the existing LCR SDH multiplexers. As the IP-LCR uses Ethernet as an access mechanism, IP-LCR members can enjoy extended connectivity to the service everywhere in the country that Global Crossing provides Ethernet coverage or via its UK Ethersphere service.
The IP-LCR has several features:
- It allows TDM members to exchange traffic with IP members.
- It allows IP members to exchange traffic with TDM members.
- It allows IP members to exchange traffic with other IP members.
- IP members may use either SIP (preferred) or H.323
- It can provide conversion between SIP and H.323
It does all of this in a secure, private network community specifically engineered to carry large volumes of high quality voice traffic. It offers an end-to-end quality that IP Transit and traditional peering mechanisms cannot match.
For more information on IP-LCR can be found at http://www.globalcrossing.com/carrier/carrier_iplcr.aspx.
Global Crossing Updates Demarcation Extension Services
Global Crossing has updated its order delivery policies, making it easier to help customers that need to extend an access vendor’s local loop to a specific location within their facility beyond the traditional circuit delivery minimum point of entry.
Effective this month, Global Crossing has arranged for two reputable third-party vendors to provide customers with demarcation extensions within their facilities. Global Crossing arranges, coordinates, and manages all onsite visits and installations during the circuit delivery process, simplifying the service implementation for our customers. Standard extensions can be arranged for T1 and DS3 circuits. Ethernet and optical bandwidth speeds can be provided, but require a specialized cost analysis.
Vendor access loop demarcation extension services are most commonly required in North America, but extensions in Asia, Europe, and Latin America will be considered on a customized individual-case basis per order.

Global Crossing Expands North America Network with Infinera
As part of its plan to meet increasing market demand for its IP core network services, Global Crossing continues to expand and upgrade its North American network with the Infinera platform. Infinera’s next-generation infrastructure provides increased density and faster service delivery for connectivity from DS3 to 10G waves.
Current expansion and upgrades are focused on our West Express routes. The entire ring (see diagram) is scheduled for availability in September, but individual routes will be made available as they are completed. This new infrastructure will bring service delivery targets to 30 days, increasing speed to market for carrier customer solutions.

Global Crossing Expands Subsea Networks
In addition to its North American network enhancements, Global Crossing is making further upgrades to its subsea networks.
In response to significant growth in the Latin American region, Global Crossing is upgrading the South American Crossing (SAC) with 100Gbps of capacity around the entire network. The expanded capacity, which is expected to come on-line in Q4 ’07, will enable customers to take full advantage of Global Crossing’s worldwide footprint.
To accommodate market demand for transport between the US, Europe and the UK, Global Crossing made enhancements to the Atlantic Crossing routes AC-1 and AC-2. A total of 320Gbps has been deployed across multiple segments of these subsea networks. This incremental capacity is available today.
Finally, to meet demand for intra-continental connectivity, Global Crossing has added a total of 80Gbps across two diverse paths into Ireland from London. This incremental capacity for the Irish Ring is also available today.
