PRODUCT NEWS

Throughout the year, Global Crossing hosts special invitation-only events to highlight market expansions, analyst news, and other topics of interests to help carriers manage their business.  This quarter, Global Crossing is hosting an invitation only inauguration ceremony of its Global Interconnection Center in Monterrey, Nuevo León, on September 22, 2006.

Global Crossing continues to expand our network and offer more value add services to enable carriers to keep an edge above the competition.    The two articles below outline these exciting expansions for this quarter: 1) Introduction of Hosted IP Voice Service, 2) Network and Pop Expansions.

Global Crossing Introduces Hosted IP Voice Service

Now, UK businesses of any size can receive the same features and benefits of a hosted IP voice solution from Global Crossing thanks to a new capability it has introduced. Using the TeleWare Hosted IP Centrex solution, Global Crossing UK-based carrier customers can now resell this service to their enterprise customers inside the UK without having to purchase a PBX, pay upfront, and or find a hosting facility.

This solution offers end users a long list of benefits, including:

·      Scalability – Users pay for what they use because it’s a hosted solution that’s paid for on a per-user/per-month basis.

·      Functionality – It supports a more mobile and flexible workforce by providing PBX-like features regardless of whether the user is on their office phone, home phone or mobile phone. The service establishes a complete profile for each user, so the system can deliver them the capabilities they designate.

·      Cost Savings – The service has the potential to reduce the costs because all on-net calls are free of charge. In addition, by consolidating their corporate networks onto one IP network, voice and data can be converged and delivered in a more efficient, cost-effective manner.

·      Improved Competitiveness – By using a hosted IP Centrex solution, the emphasis is placed on completing calls as often as possible. Intelligent numbering will help businesses present a more professional face to the caller, improving its image and ability to compete.

Other key features of this service include:

·      Virtual PBX capabilities that provide the same features as a site-based switch without the need for on-site equipment.

·      Unified Messaging that enables all voicemails and faxes to be delivered to one mailbox, regardless of whether the user is on their office, home or mobile phone. Messages can be sent as an email into a users Outlook (or other email system), allowing for playback of messages and viewing of faxes from the PC.

·      Intelligent Numbering that supports a remote workforce. The solution will let them establish one number on their business card for callers or people sending faxes to dial. Calls will then track down the user depending on which phone they have registered.

·      Access via the web allows users to change their setup options, record a new daily greeting or retrieve messages.

·      Integration with existing technology lets the customer retain certain equipment and technology while they add functionality.

·      Soft Phone capabilities run on the PC, helping users gain more flexibility from the systems features even when they are away from the office.

In addition, this solution also includes more advanced capabilities, such as Interactive Voice Response, Contact Centre applications, voice dialing, and speech recognition.
