VoIP On Net Plus
Global Crossing announced early in June the global availability of its VoIP On-Net Plus Service -- the industry's first fully integrated, network-based voice Virtual Private Network (VPN). The service enables enterprises to migrate to a fully converged, IP solution, by consolidating voice and data networks on a single IP network.

Global Crossing VoIP On-Net Plus Service™ is fully independent of premises-based equipment. As a result, it can employ any routing protocol, enabling enterprises to manage migration to IP at their own pace, while immediately reaping the productivity gains and lower total cost of ownership provided by convergence. The service allows enterprises to complete calls to their office locations over Global Crossing's worldwide VoIP network, reaching more than 600 cities in 60 countries.

A distinctive feature of VoIP On-Net Plus is cross protocol routing -- the ability to connect to the VoIP network either through an IP protocol or a traditional Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) protocol.

VoIP Community Peering
Also now available is Global Crossing VoIP Community Peering -- another industry-leading enhancement to the company's Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services.

VoIP Community Peering creates an extranet community for enterprises and their various business partners -- such as suppliers, manufacturers and distributors in a supply chain. Through VoIP Community Peering, enterprise business associates that are experiencing high call volumes can reap the cost benefits of migrating to a full on-net VoIP solution without implementing a private number dialing plan.

VoIP Community Peering also creates intranet communities for geographically dispersed, intra-company locations and remote office locations that prefer not to implement a centralized private corporate numbering plan. For example, a pharmaceutical company with regional offices that operate independently and manage their own dial plan still experiences a significant amount of intra-location calling. This type of company is an ideal candidate for Global Crossing's VoIP Community Peering solution.

VoIP Integrity Service
Global Crossing also has added to its portfolio of Application Performance Management (APM) services. Global Crossing VoIP Integrity Service™ provides key performance reporting and indicators, including per-call Mean Opinion Score (MOS) metrics, in addition to the standard features of Global Crossing Network Integrity and Global Crossing Application Integrity Services.

VoIP Integrity performance reporting is a tool for enterprise network managers to proactively design and troubleshoot their entire network and or individual locations for optimal quality. Reports provide information on VoIP call quality distribution for a selected site over a specified period of time, identify the top 20 sites with the highest number of VoIP call flows, and highlight the worst performing sites based on call quality for the selected time period. Network managers have real-time visibility into network and applications performance, enabling them to identify potential performance issues before they lead to service interruptions.

IP Supercore
Global Crossing has more than quadrupled the capacity of its global IP network backbone to support the growing customer demand for bandwidth-intensive applications and converged IP services.

The IP Supercore platform enables Global Crossing to meet the rising demand for 10-Gigabit Ethernet services from its carrier and enterprise customers. As part of its enhanced infrastructure, Global Crossing is supplementing the core functionality of its MPLS-network backbone with Juniper Networks T-640 routing platforms. Immediate benefits to customers include a core architecture that can significantly expand beyond 10-Gbps capacity without the delays caused by forklift upgrades. Customers can be confident that Global Crossing's core infrastructure will accommodate not only their immediate high-capacity needs, but future growth on a global basis.
